May saw the return of the annual UK BodyPower Expo at the NEC, Birmingham.

BodyPower, the biggest indoor fitness expo in the world brings in a welcome wave of change to the industry with it’s focus on fitness, health and nutrition, stepping away from the 90s world of fake tan and skimpy clothes.

Whether you’re a personal trainer, company or just your average Joe looking to get into shape or look after your health, this is the UK’s one stop shop for you.

Leading brands in the health & fitness industry were in attendance on mass. If you looking into health for medical, fitness or cosmetic reasons the number and variety of exhibits will impress. From practical advise to demos and free samples to personal and bespoke one to one talks and walkthroughs the atmosphere is one of support and encouragement not judgement regardless of your current fitness level or expertise.

This year marked the 10 year anniversary of the event and sported a Las Vegas theme to commemorate the mile stone. The annual themes offer recreational distractions for those families in attendance with little ones. Although the exhibits offer great interaction for all age groups, after all you’re never too young or old to eat healthily and stay active. The stands offer ways to do so that can fit into any schedule and life style. The use of diet nutrition, technology, clothing, equipment and practical, expert advice can help even the most chaotic and busy of us introduce a little healthy living into our busy day.

The expo included an impressive line up of world renowned athletes and industry leading exhibitors. Showcasing the latest supplements, clothing & training equipment, talks, seminars, one to one sessions, meet and greets and interactive activities with around 450 exhibitors in attendance in total.

Diverse spread of all areas of health & fitness in attendance including bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, CrossFit, aesthetics, lifestyle & general fitness. Something for everyone.

There was a good mix of entertaining amateur competitions going on throughout the weekend including separate arenas for bodybuilding, powerlifting, CrossFit and strongman. The separation of the areas was very welcome meaning that those who did not wish to be in any particular environment didn’t have to be (If any dad’s out there wanted to keep their daughters away from the parading body builders). The whole event had a very professional and family friendly non judgmental vibe. You could do and see and be surrounded by as much or little as you wished with clearly designated areas for each interest.

A couple of stands worth a mention:

  • Barebells- Swedish makers of protein bars/shakes. Somehow manage to keep products low calorie, low sugar with amazing taste. Free samples were being offered all weekend with great advice on how to incorporate the products into your daily regime.
  • Sport Sense Water- very impressive Polish Artesian sports water. A neutral 7.4ph with bio degradable bottle which in around 15 years turns to mush and minerals and is absorbed into the ground. For those looking for a non acidic, chemical free, sugar free way to replenish fluids and electrolytes during or after exercise, these guys are well worth a look at.

Company, manufacturer, professional, amateur or just your average Joe, couple or family, BodyPower is defiantly a weekend you activity you won’t regret, and let’s face it we we would all like to improve our health and fitness if we could, and BodyPower offers an enjoyable outing that helps us to live a healthier life style.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Al-Sahawat Times than ever but advertising revenues across the global media industry are falling fast. And unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a total paywall. We want to keep our journalism as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Al-Sahawat Times’ independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe truly ethical media and an unbias perspective really matters.

“I appreciate there not being a paywall: it is more democratic for the media to be available for all and not a commodity to be purchased by a few. I’m happy to make a contribution so others with less means still have access to information.”

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, the future of ethical media and the futures of our staff and their families would be much more secure. For as little as £1, you can support Al-Sahawat Times and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
