Omani gasoline prices remain stable and low
Good news for Omani motorists, although the prices did rise in 2019, the average value for Oman during the past one month was 0.21 Rial Omani with a minimum of 0.21 Rial Omani on 25-Feb-2019 and a maximum of 0.22 Rial Omani on 06-May-2019. For comparison, the average price of gasoline in the world for this period is 0.58 Rial Omani.
How much does gas (petrol) cost around the world:
EU: 95 Octane: €1.32 98 Octane: €1.37 Diesel: €1.37 The EU varies from 64¢ to €1.80/L for basic 95 octane gasoline. The most common fuel is 95 octane gasoline with an average price for June 2019 of €1.32/L [0.57 OMR]
UK: 95 octane: £1.30 [0.63 OMR]
London: 95 octane: £1.37 99 Octane: £1.48 [0.72 OMR]. The most common fuel type in London is 95 octane gasoline with and average price for June 2019 of £1.37/L [0.67 OMR]
USA: 87 octane: $0.65/L [0.25 OMR] Note gasoline in the USA is considerably watered down compared to the global average of 95 octane.
OMAN: 91 octane and 95 octane [0.22 OMR]
RUSSIA: 95 octane [0.29 OMR]
Most of the world uses 95 octane gasoline with Oman offering an additional lower 91 octane gas for older vehicles. USA only offers a watered down 87 octane with London offering the widest range and highest concentration in variants of 95, 97, 99 and 101 octane for use in super cars.
Many sports and supercars will only run correctly on high octane fuel of 97 octane or higher. Oman does offer this in Shell V power stations throughout out the country but it is not a fuelling station standard. London is pretty hit and miss but many fuelling stations offer two or more variants with nothing below 95 and most often 97 along side it for most sports and super cars. Only the highest performing hyper cars will require 99 or 101.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Al-Sahawat Times than ever but advertising revenues across the global media industry are falling fast. And unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a total paywall. We want to keep our journalism as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Al-Sahawat Times’ independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe truly ethical media and an unbias perspective really matters.
“I appreciate there not being a paywall: it is more democratic for the media to be available for all and not a commodity to be purchased by a few. I’m happy to make a contribution so others with less means still have access to information.”
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, the future of ethical media and the futures of our staff and their families would be much more secure. For as little as £1, you can support Al-Sahawat Times and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
