As EU warns of Spanish civil war over Calatonia, one woman races to save those dying
The EU gave a stark warning of a pending Spanish Civil war today as recent riots in Barcelona over Catalan independence saw almost 1’000 seriously injured.
As neither side will engage in peace talks and authorities send in ever Loren heavily armed forces, the threat of war increases.
Yet one young woman is racing through these dangerous lands with one sole goal, saving lives of those who lack basic loving requirements.
Speaking to Al-Sahawat Times from Al-Andaluz;
“Every year, I try to set myself a challenge to raise money for a worthwhile cause. This year, I have decided to cycle at least 55 KM every day (I have never cycled before!), for 7 days, to provide clean safe drinking water to entire communities.
It’s all in aid of Islamic Relief (IR), the Water4Life Project through East Africa. These projects have an estimated life span of around 80 years, which means that an entire generation could have clean water every single day.
The reason why I am inspired by this cause is because IR is fixated on breaking this cycle of deprivation and dependency through sustainable means.
Once the hole is dug, a submersible pump is lowered into the water source and is connected to a power source above ground, either a solar powered battery or a generator. The water is pumped up through the pipe and filtered into a storage tank. The tank can hold approximately 35,000 litres of water at a time and is usually filled twice a day. That’s 70,000 litres of clean, pure, safe drinking water a day!
